Ajo më kujton fëmijërinë time, fshatin e vogël ku kam lindur dhe ku kanë jetuar prindërit e mi, i tha në takimin e tyre të parë.
Ata u takuan krejt rastësisht një mbrëmje të bukur. Ajo ishte një vajzë jashtëzakonisht e butë dhe e brishtë, dhe ai ishte një djalë i ri i zakonshëm që dukej se kishte frikë të tërhiqte shumë vëmendjen ndaj vetes.

Njerëzit që dëgjuan fjalët e tij iu drejtuan menjëherë. Megjithatë, jo çdo ditë dikush kërkon kripë në kafe.
Kamarieri u kthye shpejt me kripë dhe i riu, me fytyrë pak të skuqur, nisi dalëngadalë të hidhte kripë në pije. Pas ca kohësh, vajza mori guximin dhe pyeti: “A është ky ndonjë hobi juaj i çuditshëm?” Unë kurrë nuk kam parë dikë të kripos kafenë e tij”.
I riu vendosi gotën në tavolinë dhe tha: “Kur isha fëmijë, jetonim buzë detit. Më pëlqente të luaja në ujë, më pëlqente të merrja frymë në aromën e kripur të detit. Tani sa herë pi kafe, shtoj kripë. Më kujton fëmijërinë time, fshatin e vogël ku kam lindur dhe ku kanë jetuar prindërit e mi”.
Fjalët e tij të fundit e bënë vajzën të qajë. Ajo ishte e magjepsur. Atëherë ajo vendosi që vetëm një njeri i mirë mund të ndjejë mall për fshatin e saj të lindjes dhe të mendojë me një dashuri të tillë për prindërit e saj. Pas “incidentit” me kripën, i riu u qetësua, filloi të fliste më shumë dhe më në fund pranoi të takoheshin sërish.
Gjatë muajve të ardhshëm, ata komunikuan gjithnjë e më shumë. Dhe vajza kuptoi se njohja e saj e re është një person i veçantë që është i përsosur për të: i butë, i dashur, inteligjent, i mirë…
Dhe gjithçka filloi kur kriposi kafenë. Si çdo histori, edhe kjo përfundoi me një martesë. Ata jetuan të lumtur. Ajo kriposte kafen e tij çdo ditë. Kanë kaluar 40 vjet. Burri vdiq. Pas vdekjes së tij, gruaja gjeti një letër në dhomën e ndenjjes. Në letër ai i shkruante asaj:
“E dashura ime! Te lutem me fal! Te lutem me fal! Të kam gënjyer një herë në jetën time – kur kripa kafen. E mbani mend takimin tonë të parë? Isha aq i emocionuar sa kërkova kripë në vend të sheqerit.
Nuk dija si ta fshihja gabimin tim, ndaj gënjeva. Ndjeva se po bëja diçka të gabuar, por më pas nuk mund ta pranoja. U përpoqa t’ju them të vërtetën shumë herë, por kisha frikë. I kam premtuar vetes se pasi të martohemi, nuk do të të gënjej më.
Tani që kam vdekur, nuk kam frikë ta pranoj. Nuk më pëlqen kafeja me kripë. Është e tmerrshme, nuk mund ta imagjinoj një shije më të keqe. Por e pija çdo ditë. Dhe nuk më vjen keq!
E dija që ta bëja jetën të lumtur. Nëse do të mund të kthehesha pas në kohë, do ta bëja përsëri. Do ta pija kafen me kripë çdo ditë për të ditur që je pranë meje! Ndërsa gruaja e tij po lexonte letrën, lotët filluan t’i rrjedhin në fytyrë.
Një herë e pyetën nipërit: “Gjyshe, pse pi kafe me kripë?” “Sepse është më e lezetshme kështu!” u përgjigj ajo.
